History Timeline

  • 1111

  • Albach Mountains

    It all started in an area known for its magnificence and beauty, home to 'Austria's Most Beautiful Village'- Albach. On top of the Albach mountains snow and ice seep through the rock layers, in a process that takes years. While the water runs over the rock layers it is enriched with natural minerals, electrolytes and trace elements. Over 1000 years ago this high mineral content water first started to emerge from the Mehrn spring at the bottom of the mountain.

  • First Church

    The History of the Mehrn Spring goes all the way back to the pre-Christ era, when it was called 'Springholiness'. In 1111 AD, a Christian church was built on top of the Mehrn Spring to somehow connect the "unexplainable healing properties" of the spring to God. (Today we know the high mineral content within the water caused the hype around perceived health benefits).

  • 1267

  • Initial Recording

    In 1267 AD, the "healing properties" of the Mehrn Spring were first recorded and recognized. (Scientific studies of high mineral content waters and their impact on health were not introduced for several hundred years after).

  • 1698

  • Gains popularity

    The water gains a lot of popularity in Europe under the name "Vierzehn Nothelfer" water which translates to the 14th Plight Helpers Water.

  • Second Church

    In 1698, a larger Church, which remains there today, was rebuilt on top of the spring in the honor of the Holy Batholomaeus. Take a look inside the church here.

  • 1869

  • Official Health Spa

    In 1869, the 'Mehrn Healing Spa' was built and continues to welcome visitors to it's wellness and health spa to this day. Book this unique Austrian spa appointment here.

  • Certification and continued expansion

    Throughout the 19th century, after official Austrian government recognition and certification of the spring, popularity of the water continued to grow. Commercial distribution of the bottled water also started to expand throughout Europe. The water is currently sold in stores in Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Slovakia, and France. The Mehrn Spring in Austria

An area known for its magnificence and beauty, home of Austria's Most Beautiful Village - Albach , could only create something divine. Shield Potion - the Liquid of Life is sourced deep within the Alps from the renowned and official Austrian government certified Mehrn Artisan Spring (Tyrol, Austria). It has been known and used for health and wellness therapy by Europeans for centuries. The water is featured in The Ways of Water: Healing Wells and Springs in Tirol. It is a special water with an exceptionally high mineral content, created by nature, for a perfect balance of taste and nutrition.

Shield Potion vs Other Bottled Waters

Shield Potion is differentiated from regular mineral and other bottled waters by its physical attributes, higher level of mineral content and natural composition. Mineral water is classified by the FDA as "having at least 250 parts per million total dissolved solids".
